Maya’s parents are raising awareness for SCID and showing gratitude for the information, hope, and connection to a community of families impacted by SCID which they found through SCID Angels.
We are so grateful to all our community members who have shown their willingness to “Pay it Forward”. We’ve had supporters come up with some very creative ideas to support SCID Angels. There have been birthday parties where donations to SCID Angels were the only presents. We’ve had craft enthusiasts create items where all proceeds for the sale of their items have gone to SCID Angels. We’ve even had a whole family who decided they didn’t need more “stuff” for Christmas and instead donated what they would’ve spent on gifts.
To make it easier for our community to collect donations, we’ve set up a Community Fundraisers page. By utilizing our donation platform to manage your fundraiser you don’t have to worry about handling money or cashing checks. Your friends and family will even have the convenience of paying with a debit card, credit card, or PayPal. Maya was diagnosed in utero with ADA-SCID. Unfortunately, her twin sister was not a match. Maya is growing and developing well with weekly subcutaneous immunoglobulin (Sub-Q IgG) along with enzyme replacement therapy (ERT). She continues to beat the odds through aggressive therapy and tutoring to combat an autism diagnosis. Her parents’ hope for Maya’s future lies in the ADA SCID clinical trial which has been mired in manufacturing process and business model challenges.
