Barb and Heather at the PIDTC Meeting 2023
This past April SCID Angels had the honor of presenting at the annual PIDTC Scientific Worship in Cincinnati, OH. This is a once-a-year opportunity where SCID Angels can present the latest pressing concerns of the SCID patient population directly to the physicians, researchers, and industry partners who participate with PIDTC.
The Primary Immune Deficiency Treatment Consortium (PIDTC) was established in North America to build multicenter collaborations to improve outcomes in primary immune deficiency (PID) patients who receive hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) or other forms of treatment. SCID Angels was invited to represent the SCID community globally as a part of the consortium and presented this year on the topic of ‘Transitioning to Adult Care.’
This topic was well received by attendees. It has since become a hot topic of discussion, as we look for ways to improve upon and implement a universal transition program from pediatric to adult care. Such a program could lead to better patient outcomes and better patient experiences.
